The latest addition to our range is 100% Australian product. We love Australian Lemon Myrtle for it’s healing properties and delicious flavour.
The Australian Lemon Myrtle shrub has been used by Indigenous Australians for thousands of years. The disease-fighting high-antimicrobial properties in the leaves are released by chewing them, crushing them into a paste or adding to hot water to create a soothing drink for a sore throat (see our Lemon Myrtle Creamed Honey if you’re keen to try it). As a paste it can be rubbed over sores of the skin. The leaves were also burnt to release their insect-repelling properties. Nature surely provides!
Lemon Myrtle leaves have also been used traditionally to flavour foods and as a healing oil. The leaves can be used fresh or dried and the oil can be extracted through distillation.
